Art Deco

Art Deco, the defining applied art and architectural style of the 1920s and 1930s started out in France. It is named after Exposition Internationale de Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Moderne, shortly Art Decoratifs, the International Fair of Modern Art and Applied Art which was held in Paris in 1925.

Art Nouveau

Art Nouveau, Modern Styles, Modernismo, Style Liberty, Jugendstil; all these names refer to the same revolutional visual art movement known as szecesszió in Hungary. One of the most prominent centres of the new direction was Vienna, where in 1897 49 artists withdrew from academic art movements to found their own exhibition place called Secession. The ornate style conquered Europe rapidly.

Baroque

The reign of Baroque in Hungary spanned from 16th to 18th century. Many lavish examples of Baroquearchitecture and interior design can be admired in Buda castle, Veszprém or Győr. The typical over the top motives, rich décor and elaborate handicraft make Baroque furniture, wall lights and chandeliers particularly valuable.
